Senior Clinician and doctoral candidate integrating an intersectional, affirmative framework across clinical practice, clinical supervision, and empirical research. As a first-generation, neurodivergent, queer practitioner, Tyler is committed to decolonizing behavioral healthcare and expanding equity across systemic care environments. A California-registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC #17625) and Certified Drug & Alcohol Counselor (CDAC), he is currently pursuing his PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision at The Chicago School alongside sex therapy certification at CIIS. His clinical orientation is anchored in Relational-Cultural Theory, bridging attachment lenses with evidence-based CBT and DBT modalities to provide culturally attuned, affirming care for LGBTQIA+, transgender, non-binary, polyamorous, and kink/BDSM populations.

Faculty & Practitioner Biography
Tyler's frontline leadership includes designing and directing high-acuity Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) for adult and adolescent dual-diagnosis populations. During the catastrophic 2025 Los Angeles wildfires, he spearheaded the emergency transition of an entire multi-track clinical program to virtual care within 24 hours—preserving uninterrupted client retention, therapeutic safety, and clinical staff stability. His public health background spans international initiatives across Malaysia, Thailand, South Africa, and Tanzania, complemented by intensive community mental health and dual-diagnosis work at the Skid Row Mental Health Wellness Center (The People Concern), specializing in harm-reduction, trauma recovery, and street-level crisis intervention.
Emergency 24-Hour Clinical Virtual Care Transition
Spearheaded the emergency transition of a high-acuity clinical program to virtual care within 24 hours during the 2025 LA wildfires, maintaining 100% therapeutic continuity and client safety.
As a researcher and supervisor-in-training, Tyler rejects performative jargon in favor of transparent, human-centered pedagogy that prioritizes clinician well-being, ethical rigor, and systemic sustainability. He advocates that rigorous administrative and documentation standards must coexist symbiotically with operational viability and clinician mental health. His doctoral dissertation investigates specialized clinical supervision modalities designed to mitigate minority stress and occupational burnout among LGBTQIA+ associate therapists—equipping and sustaining the next generation of affirming clinicians.
“Clinical counseling and clinical supervision are fundamentally relational endeavors. When we replace performative distance with transparent, affirmative rigor, we create the systemic conditions for clinicians and clients alike to thrive sustainably.”
